Black Tea: The Book Tastings was created to encourage everyone to read quality books written by Black authors and purchase them. The ability to be validated as a human being in a story told by a Black author is powerful.
Book Tastings are not to be confused with book clubs with food! The term is used to signify the importance to feed yourself with as much knowledge about one’s self as possible. The goal is to have everyone recognize the importance of Black authors by increasing access to books with characters that are Black.
Reading is the turn-key difference in ensuring that books by authors featuring Black and Brown characters, experiences, and adventures have relevance and maximum staying power. It helps bring the realities of Black history and social progress into the consciousness of readers that need to hear the stories spoken.
